How to Start Marketing Your Film - The Let Me Be Story

The Film

Let Me Be is a Swedish-Danish drama written & directed by Dorit S. Christensen, and produced at Joyance Film AB. The film follows a university professor whose seemingly ordered life takes an unexpected turn, setting off a transformative journey of self-discovery and growth. Drama, romance, and subtle humor are woven together into a film that stays with you long after the credits roll.

The film has won and been nominated at festivals across the world, including the Hollywood Discovery Awards, WRPN Women's International Film Festival, LA Independent Women Film Awards, ARFF Barcelona, LA Femme International Film Festival, and City of Angels Film Festival, and it became eligible to compete for an Oscar in the category: Best Original Screenplay.

The creative work was done. The recognition was there. But Dorit still had the hardest part ahead of her.

The Problem

When Dorit came to Ramiro AI, she was honest about where she stood. She felt she needed more input on how to handle distribution and marketing for Let Me Be. She already got a supportive sales agent from LA a year ago and had also received some distribution offers through him, but she was unsure what to choose and the best way to proceed.

"I was not sure how to handle this step in the film process. I guess it is a little like handing over your baby. And then you have heard so many stories about how filmmakers have signed contracts, and then they are not allowed to screen their own film for many years."

The Strategy

Together with Ramiro AI, Dorit began defining her audience, developing a release strategy, and planning a distribution, in case she did not choose any of the previously mentioned offers.

What stood out was the way she engaged with the platform. She did not just ask questions and move on. She used it like a thinking partner.

"Ramiro AI is almost like a person. If I tell it I have back problems, it is thinking of that too and suggests when I need to pause. It has helped me find my target audience for the film, and a lot of other things."

That approach shaped everything that followed.

The Results

Over the last 6 months since joining Ramiro AI, Dorit has shown up consistently, and the results speak for themselves.

She posted regularly across social media, building her audience one connection at a time. Some of her reels went viral. She started showing up on video to answer questions from her audience, something she would not have imagined doing before. She protected her film and made informed decisions about distribution deals, turning down anything that did not serve it on her terms.

And then came the moment. Let Me Be had its first worldwide online screening on Eventive, with two showtimes and a live Q&A with Dorit broadcasting directly from the Cannes International Film Festival, joined by cast members from Sweden and Denmark.

An independent film, doing it right.

The Lesson

Dorit's advice to any filmmaker in the same position she was in when she started:

"Jump on here and try out Ramiro AI for your film project!"
